WELCOME TO WOMB'S WEEKLY "TAKE 5 WITH..." SERIES. ROUGHLY ONCE A WEEK WE WILL FEATURE A SHORT INTERVIEW WITH A HK-BASED CONSCIOUS PERSONALITY.

THIS WEEK WE PRESENT TO YOU THE MASTERMINDS BEHIND GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK - STEPHANIE DICKSON AND PAULA MIQUELIS!

1. Tell us a bit about yourselves, where are you from, and why did you choose to have your focus on (and be part-time based in) Hong Kong?
P: Born and raised in Nice – South East of France, my curiosity, and passion for travels lead me to study in Paris, Hong Kong (at HKU) and Singapore. Asia has become my home and playground. I am now splitting my time between those 3 countries which are dear to my heart and my business. My business partner, Steph, is based in Singapore which is where we met a few years ago. We're lucky that we get to spend time in both amazing cities to grow Green Is The New Black together.

2. When and how did you come up with the idea for “Green is The New Black”?
S & P: As individuals, we all heard about climate change, plastic in the oceans, fashion waste... we know we are part of the problem through our consumption patterns but do not really know how to be part of the solutions.
This is where we come in, we want to make conscious living easy and convenient for people. We take big complicated issues and break them down into #LittleGreenSteps that everyone can take on a daily basis without compromising our modern and comfortable lifestyles.

3. What are your thoughts on waste and pollution in Hong Kong?
S: I am often asked the question about the differences between Singapore and Hong Kong. I must admit that Singapore has a vision which is instilled from the government to become 'the world's most sustainable island', which makes it easier for any environmental and social related projects to find funds, grants, resources and people to help to implement. Hong Kong might be lacking a bit of this top-down push. Similar comments apply to its waste system for instance, which is handled by different parties (governmental and private) from one district to another.
Having said that, both Singapore and Hong Kong have been homes of incredible change-makers and communities willing to make a difference and impact our planet. It is now up to us to gather our energy even further and to find smart ways to make conscious living and sustainability mainstream.

4. What's your personal battle? How do you make your everyday life greener?
P: My personal battle starts from within, I try to always breathe with my belly to enhance my consciousness. Breathing is actually key to me in order to remain present, aware and selfless. It is not everyday easy, as entrepreneurial life can be tough and really fast-paced but I can feel that every day is a new discovery through simply breathing more and more and feel more and more. Ultimately, an increase in consciousness leads to understanding the connections we have with the others and with mother nature. We are all interconnected so by helping the environment and the communities, I'm actually saving myself!
PS: Jean-Claude Van Damme is my hero. ;)

5. What’s next for “GITNB”? Remember - sky is the limit!
S & P: We currently have a community of 87 conscious brands in fashion, beauty, lifestyle and F&B from all over Asia. We also organize Conscious Festivals in two different cities - Singapore and Hong Kong. We would like to expand our community to 1,000 brands by 2020 and bring our Conscious Festivals to additional cities in Asia!
Ultimately, our goal is to educate ourselves and consumers to vote with our wallets so as through our #LittleGreenSteps, collectively, we can help to shape and influence the products and services of multinationals! Hence create a virtuous conscious consumerism circle. Who is in?
